Hoax Of Exceptionalism

The gratifying locution of “American Exceptionalism” brings into fruition another hoax reality in nationalism. This follows in suit an order of cyclic pattern of previous empires – Greece, Roman, Persia etc. – self-deception proceeds into their latter days. What makes it evidently obsolete today is the state of the nation’s internal affairs with the saddling debt  owed to China – hounding her socioeconomic progressions, and the external geopolitical struggles with Russia with the increasing number of countries opposing to the United States annexation and expansionism; to the very recent, Turkey’s amiable relation with Russia.

Exceptionalism in the context of nationalism became the imperial objective of the United States government after World War II and entering into the Cold War to seek global empire or superiority. The event of 9/11 engendered the nationalist super patriotism in the United States to reinforce their uniqueness among the world community. Prior to that, the term “American Exceptionalism” which was coined by the French aristocrat – Alexis de Tocqueville, in his book “American Democracy” – did not take into consideration the broader comparative analogy of the United States democratic dispensation to that of other nations, including his own France, but to that of the United Kingdom. The thrive of the monarch in the United Kingdom for the past millennium has been their enviable propensity to sustain the plebeian working class group and the British Commonwealth of nations. The antecedent of the French Revolution, somewhat, is permeating in the United States with a collapsing middle class, and the aristocrats losing grips of the realities of the gargantuan populace in the middle-lower class.

Hillary Goes Full Reagan In ‘American Exceptionalism’ Speech

Liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, populism and laissez fair which describe the American Creed were the foundation for building the nation to become a fortress of democracy guided by the principle of moral rectitude. I posit to say that the way to ensure maximum security within a territory is to seek expansion. Starting from the 13 colonies that pioneered the fight for freedom and Independence is a clear example of how freedom is intrinsic in the natural order of life; although, along the way, there was mass killing of the native population during the campaign.

The United States had become one of the most powerful nations in the world since then – as the “leader of the free world” – refusing to acknowledge, however,  the freedom of others to live in their society regardless of the restraints of the international law. “American Exceptionalism” and “American Expansionism” are in tandem to provide excuse and impetus for the United States foreign policies agenda for global domination and superiority. When you mention “American Exceptionalism” en bloc “Expansionism”, it suggest the continuous aggression by the United States imbued in the progressive nature. This strive has corollary encountered several resistance as well.

The United States reigns superior with its military prowess and armaments. The Military Industrial Complex has spurred the campaign of “American Expansionism” to cause “American Exceptionalism” through militarization rather than civilization. The invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Libya, etc. under the pretext of expanding America’s liberty and democracy is just as it has always been the expansion of America’s strategic interest to pillage the resource needed by the “free-market” to fuel the capitalist society.

The excuse of entrenching “American Exceptionalism” has indeed been encumbered by resistant forces from other nations. Many examples could be given on this subject, but I will be content with two, brought to pass within the memory of American invasion of the Philippines which resulted in the death of 600,000 people, and 500,000 death in Iraq.

In crux, it is essential to understand “American Exceptionalism” this way, as they seek to promote the self-interest of United States uniqueness and superiority, they are putting in place a systemic imbalance in the world to be dealt justly with a takeover by another superior power. As we had known to have happened to empires in historical events – indeed, American Exceptionalism is not exceptional.
